Direktorat Jenderal Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Penyakit (P2P) Kemenkes menyebut sebaran kasus tersebut meliputi 59 kasus di Jakarta, 13 kasus di Jawa Barat, 9 kasus di Banten, 3 kasus di Jawa Timur dan Yogyakarta, serta 1 kasus di Kepulauan Riau. Dari 88 kasus, sebanyak 87 kasus telah pulih.
Puncak kasus cacar monyet yang terkonfirmasi terjadi pada Oktober 2023, meski varian yang beredar tidak memiliki tingkat fatalitas yang tinggi, namun penyebarannya sangat mudah. Hal ini menjadi suatu hal yang perlu diwaspadai.
Sementara itu Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) menyatakan lonjakan kasus cacar monyet secara global sebagai keadaan darurat kesehatan masyarakat yang menjadi perhatian internasional, dan tingkat kewaspadaan yang tinggi.
